End of Year Organization Tips for SLPs

Before we even dive into articulation and language activities… can we just acknowledge that the end of the school year can feel a little chaotic?

Between changing schedules, makeup sessions, progress reports, IEP meetings, field trips, and trying to wrap everything up before summer break, sometimes the BEST thing we can do for ourselves is simplify and organize where we can.

These are some of my favorite SLP organization tools and resources that have helped me feel more prepared, less overwhelmed, and a little more sane during those final weeks of the school year.

1. The Free Ultimate SLP Planner

This is officially our 10th year creating and updating our Ultimate SLP Planner, and honestly… it has become such a staple resource for so many SLPs year after year.

One of my favorite things about this planner is that it was truly created by an SLP who understands the chaos of school-based therapy schedules and caseload management. It’s designed to help simplify the day-to-day organization that speech therapists juggle constantly.

Inside the planner, you’ll find:

  • vertical planning pages
  • horizontal planning pages
  • scheduling tools
  • organization pages
  • caseload support pages
  • planning systems
  • and over 120 pages of SLP-focused organization tools

Whether you love detailed planning systems or just need a place to keep your therapy schedule and notes organized, this planner has become such a favorite within the speech therapy community for a reason.

2. Free IEP Goal Bank

No matter what time of year it is, I always find myself referencing IEP goals.

Whether you’re:

  • updating goals
  • checking progress
  • preparing meetings
  • planning therapy
  • reviewing student needs
  • or prepping for next school year

…having a solid goal bank ready to go is SUCH a time saver.

Our Free IEP Goal Bank includes 432+ speech therapy IEP goals across a wide variety of focus areas and communication skills. It’s one of those resources that becomes incredibly helpful all year long — but especially during those end-of-year weeks when everything starts piling up at once.

3. SLP Appreciation Cards

These printable SLP appreciation cards were originally created for National SLP Day, but honestly? SLPs deserve to be celebrated ALL year long.

The end of the school year is such a perfect time to encourage and celebrate your SLP team, coworkers, supervisors, or speech room friends who have worked so hard all year long.

These cards are simple, thoughtful, and such an easy way to remind another SLP that they’ve been seen, appreciated, and cheered on throughout the school year.

P.S. Speech Therapy Store also offers gift cards if you’d like to treat another SLP on your team at the end of the school year. You can find those here:

4. Push-In Planning Map

If your therapy schedule starts feeling extra chaotic at the end of the school year, this Push-In Planning Map can be such a game changer.

One of the hardest parts about push-in therapy can be organizing:

  • small groups
  • classroom schedules
  • therapy flow
  • lesson structure
  • and planning time efficiently

This planning map helps simplify that process and creates a much more organized system for structuring push-in speech therapy sessions.

I especially love tools like this during May because classroom schedules are constantly changing with assemblies, testing, field trips, and end-of-year events. Having a simple visual planning system can make therapy feel so much more manageable during those hectic weeks.

5. Summer Homework Bundle

One thing I always tried to prioritize before summer break was making carryover feel EASY and realistic for families.

Our Summer Homework Bundle was created to help simplify speech therapy carryover over the summer while still keeping students engaged and motivated.

This bundle targets:

  • articulation goals
  • language goals
  • social pragmatic goals

…and it’s designed in an easy-to-use digitally interactive format that works well for students, parents, and caregivers.

I love resources like this because they help reduce the pressure of summer carryover while still encouraging meaningful speech and language practice in realistic ways.

You can grab a free sample of the bundle here:

Or if you’d like the complete bundle, you can find the full resource here!

You can also learn more about why we format our speech therapy homework this way — and why simple, realistic carryover matters so much — in this post all about articulation homework and speech therapy carryover practice.

Low-Prep End of Year Articulation Activities

Now that we’ve covered a few ways to simplify and organize the end of the school year… let’s move into the FUN part: easy articulation activities that students actually stay engaged with during those final weeks before summer break.

6. Articulation I SPY

One of my favorite low-prep articulation activities for the end of the school year is our Articulation I Spy activity. This resource targets the G and Z sounds while using engaging real-life pictures and mixed word positions for meaningful articulation practice.

My students have loved this one time and time again because it feels playful and different while still getting in high-quality speech practice. The bug theme keeps students engaged, and it works well for mixed groups and quick grab-and-go therapy sessions during those busy final weeks of school.

If you’re looking for a fun articulation activity that still feels purposeful, this one has always been an easy win in my speech room.

7. Articulation Roll and Say

Sometimes the simplest articulation activities are the ones students ask for over and over again.

Our Articulation Roll and Say activity is one of those classic high-repetition speech therapy games that just WORK. It’s print-and-go, uses real-life pictures, and keeps students engaged while getting tons of articulation trials in naturally.

At the end of the year, I especially love activities like this because they require almost no prep while still helping students stay motivated and successful in therapy sessions.

This is one of those low-prep articulation activities that I always find myself reaching for during May and June.

8. Rainbow Craft Articulation Activity

If you’re looking for something a little more hands-on for younger students, our Rainbow Craft articulation activity has created so many sweet memories in my speech room over the years.

This activity combines articulation practice with a simple craft component, making it perfect for end-of-year speech therapy sessions when students are craving something more interactive and creative.

I love using activities like this during the final weeks of school because they still target important speech goals while also creating those fun, memorable therapy moments students talk about long after the school year ends.

Plus… anything involving crafts and rainbows tends to be an instant hit with younger elementary students.

9. Articulation Fortune Teller Origami (Shop Resource)

This articulation fortune teller origami activity is one of those speech therapy resources that students think is SO fun.

It’s inexpensive, print-and-go, and gives students a hands-on way to practice articulation at the word, sentence, and conversational levels. Students get to fold the fortune teller themselves, which instantly increases engagement and motivation.

And honestly? One of my favorite parts about this activity is that students carry them ALL over the school. Suddenly everyone is practicing articulation sounds in the hallway, classroom, and cafeteria.

That built-in carryover practice is one of the reasons this has become such a favorite end-of-year articulation activity for me.

10. Articulation Flashcards (Shop Resource)

At the end of the school year, sometimes you just need something open-and-go that still feels engaging and effective.

Our Articulation Flashcards have become one of my favorite answers to last-minute speech therapy prep because they are digital, easy to use, and highly versatile for mixed groups and changing schedules.

These flashcards use real-life pictures and include:

  • word level practice
  • phrase level practice
  • sentence level practice
  • conversational level practice

I especially love that they make it easy to quickly adapt sessions based on student needs and energy levels during those final hectic weeks of school.

If you’re looking for a simple articulation activity that still gets meaningful practice in without requiring prep work, these are such a helpful option to have on hand.

Low-Prep End of Year Language Activities

One thing I love about language activities at the end of the school year is that they naturally become more conversation-based, engaging, and flexible. Students are excited for summer, schedules are all over the place, and sometimes the BEST sessions happen when we lean into activities that feel fun, relaxed, and interactive while still targeting meaningful goals.

These are some of my favorite low-prep language activities that I find myself reaching for year after year during those final weeks of school.

11. Jokes for Speech Therapy

This has honestly been one of my tried-and-true favorite speech therapy resources to use ALL year long.

Sometimes students just need a chance to laugh, connect, and loosen up a little bit — especially at the end of the school year when energy levels are all over the place. I love using jokes and riddles in speech therapy because they naturally create engagement while still targeting so many important language skills.

Our Jokes for Speech Therapy bundle includes 105 jokes specifically designed for speech and language goals, including:

  • multiple meaning words
  • WH questions
  • idioms
  • multisyllabic words
  • comprehension riddles
  • articulation-loaded jokes for L, TH, R, and SH

This is one of those low-prep speech therapy activities that can work across so many different groups and ages while still feeling FUN for students.

And honestly? There is nothing better than hearing students crack up during therapy while still getting meaningful language practice in.

12. End of Year Sandcastle Craft

If you’re looking for a more reflective end-of-year language activity, this sandcastle craft has always been such a favorite in my speech room.

I love this activity because it gives students a chance to slow down and think about:

  • memories they built this year
  • friendships they created
  • goals they worked on
  • how far they’ve come

The beach and sandcastle theme keeps it playful and engaging while still targeting meaningful language goals.

This resource includes:

  • WH question prompts
  • color, cut, and paste activities
  • following directions practice
  • reflective language opportunities

It’s one of those end-of-year speech therapy activities that feels fun and meaningful at the same time — and those are always my favorite kinds of therapy sessions during May and June.

13. Ocean Therapy Ideas Master List

This one might sound simple, but ocean and beach themes are ALWAYS a hit at the end of the school year.

Every year, students start talking about:

  • beach trips
  • swimming
  • vacations
  • ocean animals
  • summer plans

And I’ve found that leaning into those high-interest topics naturally creates more engagement and conversation in speech therapy sessions.

That’s why I love having a master list of ocean-themed speech therapy ideas ready to go during the final weeks of school. Whether you’re targeting articulation, vocabulary, inferencing, categories, WH questions, or conversation skills, beach and ocean themes tend to connect so naturally with students this time of year.

If your students are already excited about summer, this is such an easy way to build that excitement into therapy sessions.

14. Beach and Ocean Speech Therapy Bundle

If you’re looking for a complete grab-and-go end of year speech therapy resource, our Beach and Ocean Speech Therapy Bundle has been such a lifesaver during busy May and June schedules.

This bundle includes printable and digitally interactive activities targeting a wide variety of articulation and language goals — all with a fun beach and ocean theme that students absolutely love during the end of the school year.

I especially love resources like this during the final weeks because they make it so much easier to:

  • adapt for mixed groups
  • handle schedule changes
  • quickly pull up engaging activities
  • reduce prep work during an already busy season

It’s one of my favorite low-prep ways to keep therapy feeling fun and purposeful all the way through the end of the school year.
