Happy September! I feel like the school season is beginning at so many different times lately, but by the first week of September, I am sure that all my fellow speech-language pathologists are knee deep in lesson plans, language goals, word lists and early intervention. So Welcome Back to School! There are so many fun and creative back to school speech therapy ideas, so I have compiled this comprehensive blog post with over 245 great ideas for Back to School speech-language activities! 

While many of these resources are applicable for the school-based speech therapists, I did see this list as a great opportunity to compile resources for classroom teachers as well! This list has 17 different areas of focus and the best part – they are all a free download! We would love if you would share with your team!

AND I also have another surprise for you! We started compiling this list in 2021, and it has grown and grown with some of our favorite back to school speech language activities over the years! But, in true Speech Therapy Store fashion, it didn’t feel right to share this list without a free resource given to you from us! 

We created this Back to School Freebie Bundle (School Supply Theme) to meet articulation goals and language goals right away! This bundle comes with 5 Articulation Bingo Boards with a data collection sheet. A great place to use the Articulation Bingo Boards are in small groups. They are designed for teachers and speech therapists to lead who gets the Bingo based on the articulation sound and the board. It is a great way to reinforce articulation! You can also practice School Supply Vocabulary as you play! 

The second part of the Bundle is the Language Expansion Activity. Have students cut out the 4 school supply objects. Read the prompt to your student and have them complete the carrier phrase by glueing the correct item into the box. Have them repeat the full sentence to practice requesting an item.This activity will engage your students in concepts such as receptive and expressive language, pronouns, following directions, inferencing, requesting and practicing common classroom carrier phrases, all while practicing articulation sounds! It is a great freebie to reinforce school supply vocabulary while also practicing common classroom needs such as expressive language and following directions!
