Hi there, I’m Melissa.
I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist and mama to twin boys as well as another baby boy! 💗
I have a passion for helping other SLPs save massive amounts of time by providing them with helpful resources, how-to videos, and easy-to-implement therapy materials.
Back when I was working in the school districts my caseload ranged in the mid to high 80s with two special programs and it always felt overwhelming.
I started creating my own materials because I didn't have the time to constantly scroll through Pinterest or Google for lesson plan ideas but instead needed a grab-and-go solution.
My hope is to provide my community with completely done-for-you, age-appropriate, and differentiated materials to teach multiple different skills.
That's why I've partnered with SLP Nerdcast to cohost an annual live CEU Conference along with access to a growing resource library of ready-to-use materials.
Cheers, to surprising yourself with what's possible when you give yourself back the gift of time.
~ Melissa
Hi there, I’m Kate.
I’m a dually certified Speech-Language Pathologist and board-certified behavior analyst. I’m a mom of two school-aged kids and life is busy!
I started SLP Nerdcast with my co-host Amy Wonkka because we were tired of the status quo of continuing education.
SLPs are already overworked and for a lot of us, underpaid… We should not be burdened with the high cost of CEUs that don’t even apply to our jobs.
We created SLP Nerdcast to save SLPs time and money - we want our Members to learn from researchers and content experts when it is convenient for them, without breaking the bank.
We’ve partnered with Dr. Mary Beth Schmitt, Melissa Berg from Speech Therapy Store, Dr. Chelsea Privette, and Karina Saechoa, MA, CCC-SLP, ATACP to bring you the best of research and practice, and our goal is that our Membership saves you both time and money.
~ Kate
Hi! I am Mary Beth.
I am a certified SLP, scientist, guacamole aficionado, and mama to my two young kids. We are an adoptive family, and I could not be more grateful for this journey!
I served pediatric clients for 11 years in public schools and university clinics before going back for my Ph.D.
I never in a thousand years expected or wanted to get my Ph.D. I loved clinical work and found great satisfaction in working with my families and supervising students.
But I became increasingly frustrated that my work as a SLP and the children I served weren’t represented in the research. It bothered me that I had to solely rely on my professional experience and intuition in making “EBP” decisions for my clients.
I felt a growing ethical obligation to contribute to this profession in a different way. I completed my PhD at The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) where I learned how to design, conduct, and analyze clinically-relevant research.
For the past 10 years since earning my degree, I have partnered with SLPs and families to conduct “real world” research that supports SLPs serving children in the public schools.
I’m thrilled to be a part of this community working together to bridge the research-to-practice gap.
~ Mary Beth
